Whilst weeding one of the beds I came across my little skitter plants. These had been sown as seed last year and spent most the year remaining tiny and trying to flower before dying back in Autumn. Because of this I held out little hope of them surviving and basically forgot about them.
Having rediscovered them again yesterday I dug them up and found underneath the crow small bundles of intertwined white worm like roots – HURRAY A CROP.. Not as big as the photos on the web but a crop none the less.
I’ve taken off a few of these storage roots, divided up a couple of the crown and replanted in new bed.
Hopefully this year they will do better
